OUR COMMUNITY
At Skyfeather, we believe travel should leave more than footprints. It should lift the communities that make each journey meaningful. Over the years, we’ve quietly supported and collaborated with local schools, artists, and village projects around Kandy, helping preserve traditions, empower families, and create opportunities for the next generation.
Our community work is deeply personal, it’s where our roots are. Every guest who travels with us becomes part of something bigger: a shared effort to give back, protect culture, and celebrate the spirit of this beautiful region we call home. Check out some of our community projects below!
Even in public schools, parents are often responsible for their children’s clothes, books, transportation, and sometimes tuition. For families under financial pressure, these additional costs can be impossible to meet, causing children to fall behind or even leave school.
That’s why Skyfeather organises visits to support rural schools, bringing smiles, knowledge, and hope to young minds. With the incredible support of Chamara Bandara from Soul Food—a true champion of giving back—and our wonderful friends from Italy and Germany who share our passion for education and community, we have been able to distribute school bags, shoes, and writing books, install a school’s first-ever photocopy machine, and inspire students to dream bigger. Moments like these are a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

The Tea Project
We donated over 15,000 UK pounds to the T.E.A project by running a country wide Tuk Tuk race in true Sri Lankan style. T.E.A stands for Training, Empowerment and Awareness and the project works to empower Sri Lankan children from poverty. Their focus is on children’s rights, education, art, sport and environment.

Street Dogs
Poson Poya is one of the most significant days for Sri Lankan Buddhists. It’s a unique celebration where everyone, regardless of race or religion, is treated equally. Free food and beverages are shared with everyone on the streets across the island, embodying the true spirit of Buddhism.
On this day in June 2024 I had the privilege to participate in an offering arranged by my dear friend Chamara, the kind-hearted owner of Soul Food Vegetarian Cafe in Kandy. Together, we shared food prepared for stray dogs. It was an emotional experience, feeding over 300 dogs and seeing their happiness. Words can’t describe how fulfilling it was.
