It was here that Sir James Taylor planted the island’s first tea bush at Loolecondera Estate, a plant that still thrives today. From these gentle highlands, Ceylon tea took root and grew into one of the most celebrated teas in the world.
During this immersive experience, you’ll journey through lush tea country and discover how this humble leaf shaped Sri Lanka’s history and culture. Walk through emerald-green plantations, visit a working tea factory, and taste freshly brewed teas straight from the source. Enjoy a peaceful lunch in a colonial-style tea bungalow surrounded by rolling hills before returning to Kandy.
